Advantages and Disadvantages of Paper-based Abrasive Belt

Paper-based abrasive belts are popular in the market for their cost-effectiveness and good flexibility. They are usually used for surface treatment and fine sanding of softer materials, such as wood, plastics, etc. The paper-based abrasive belt has a uniform distribution of abrasive particles, which can provide a smooth grinding effect and reduce the damage of the surface of the workpiece. In addition, the lightness of the paper-based abrasive belt makes it easy to handle and carry, suitable for manual sanding operations.
However, paper-based abrasive belts also have their limitations. Their wear resistance and durability are not as good as cloth-based or synthetic substrate abrasive belts, so they may wear faster when subjected to greater grinding pressure or used on harder materials. The paper-based abrasive belt has limited bearing capacity and is not suitable for heavy-duty grinding. In addition, paper-based materials are susceptible to damage in humid environments, limiting their use in certain applications. In general, paper-based abrasive belts are suitable for light to medium load grinding operations, but their applicability and limitations need to be considered when selecting them.
